"Going Electric in Nepal: A Review of the Tata Nexon EV"

As the world is moving towards electric mobility, Nepal has also been witnessing a rise in the demand for electric vehicles. Tata Motors, one of the leading automobile manufacturers in India, recently launched its electric SUV, the Tata Nexon EV, in Nepal. The Nexon EV has been one of the most talked-about electric cars in India since its launch in January 2020, and now it has made its way to Nepal. In this blog, we will discuss the Tata Nexon EV in Nepal's context.

Design and Styling

The Tata Nexon EV is based on the Nexon petrol model and comes with subtle changes in its design. The EV variant has a closed grille, which helps in aerodynamics and gives it a futuristic look. The EV badging on the front grille and the blue accents on the alloy wheels and ORVMs differentiate it from the petrol variant. The Nexon EV is available in three different colors – Signature Teal Blue, Moonlit Silver, and Glacier White.
Performance

The Tata Nexon EV is powered by a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is placed underneath the floor, giving it a low center of gravity. The battery powers an electric motor that delivers 129PS of power and 245Nm of torque, making it the most potent electric car in Nepal. The Nexon EV can go from 0-100 kmph in just 9.9 seconds and has a top speed of 120 kmph.

The Nexon EV comes with two driving modes - Drive and Sport. The Drive mode provides a range of up to 312 km on a single charge, making it ideal for city driving. The Sport mode provides a more aggressive driving experience and reduces the range to 239 km on a single charge.

Charging

The Tata Nexon EV can be charged using a regular 15-amp socket, which takes about 8-9 hours to charge the battery fully. The Nexon EV can also be charged using a fast charger, which takes 1 hour to charge the battery up to 80%. There are currently six fast-charging stations in Nepal, and Tata Motors plans to install more charging stations across the country.

Features

The Tata Nexon EV comes loaded with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlights. The Nexon EV also comes with safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold control, and a reverse camera.

Price

The Tata Nexon EV is priced at NPR 35,99,000 for the XM variant and NPR 42,25,000 for the XZ+ variant. The prices are inclusive of taxes and other charges.

Verdict

The Tata Nexon EV is an impressive electric car that comes loaded with features and has a powerful electric motor. The Nexon EV has a range of up to 312 km on a single charge, making it ideal for city driving. The charging infrastructure in Nepal is still in its infancy, but Tata Motors plans to install more charging stations across the country. The Tata Nexon EV is a well-built electric SUV that is perfect for those looking to make the switch to electric mobility. Overall, it's a great car and worth the price.
