The Mahindra Thar is an iconic SUV that has been loved by off-road enthusiasts for generations. And with the launch of the second-generation model, Mahindra has managed to improve upon the earlier model in every way. The new Thar is bigger, more comfortable, and comes loaded with features that make it more suitable for daily driving as well.
One of the most significant changes in the new Thar is the design. The iconic grille and round headlamps have been retained, giving the SUV a rugged and timeless appeal. The new Thar is also available in soft-top and hard-top variants, which is a first for the off-roader. The SUV is built on a new body-on-frame platform, making it significantly bigger than the outgoing version.

The interiors of the new Thar are also a significant improvement over the earlier model. The all-black cabin gives the SUV an upmarket appeal, and the sporty seats and touchscreen infotainment system add to the driving experience. The washable interiors and IP54 certified buttons and controls are also great additions for off-roading enthusiasts.
In terms of features, the new Thar is loaded with creature comforts such as roof-mounted weather-resistant speakers, a colour multi-info display for the instrument cluster, a rear-view camera, and cruise control. The safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold and hill descent control, and more.
The new Thar will come in six colour options - Red Rage, Mystic Copper, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, Rocky Beige, and Aquamarine. The Mystic Copper and Galaxy Grey are the two new shades added to the palette.
Under the hood, the new Thar comes with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and an all-new 2.0-litre mStallion petrol powertrain options. The diesel unit makes 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, while the petrol mill develops 150 bhp and 320 Nm of power. The transmission duties will be carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. There will be an authentic manual shift on the fly 4X4 transfer case.
